Breastfeeding Scholar
Story Highlights
Network member, Dominique Graham, of  Dommie's Blessed , interviewed many of the  Boston Breastfeeding Coalition 's members--both our peer breastfeeding scholars and parents. To close out Black Breastfeeding Week, Aug 25-31, the Coalition posted a new Scholar Stories which are video interviews and blogs featuring our amazing volunteer breastfeeding counselors who are on a mission to increase breastfeeding support in neighborhoods across Boston.  Watch and read  Dominique Bellegarde, Melody Lopez, and Melissa Minaya tell their stories on The Daily Milk.

We are excited to introduce you to our newest members of the team, Mesa Merritt and Amita Wanar! These two are eager and ready to support work across different network initiatives. Mesa is driven to promote accessibility in education, and opportunities for lifelong learning. September 21: Diversity Informed Tenets for Work with Infants, Children and Families

Apply today to bring a team of 3-5 people from your organization, program, or community group to this FREE one-day workshop!  You will have the opportunity deepen your self-awareness as it pertains to how we understand diversity, equity, and inclusion--individually and organizationally. Vital Village is one of many partners sponsoring this effort organized by our network partner, the Massachusetts Young Children's Systems of Care Grant. Spots are limited. In this cost-free, 40-hour training participants learn mediation skills to reduce conflict at home, in their neighborhood, with co-workers, in educational settings, and beyond. Graduates receive a certificate and utilize their new skills after training by completing a community service commitment with th Social Justice Mediation Program (SJMP). Complete an interest form to receive an application.

Join Haitian-Americans United, Inc. (HAU) for a day of presentations, workshops, and discussions related to issues that impact the Haitian community. Topics explore social and emotional well-being, career and education mobility, business development, strategies for community empowerment and growth, civic engagement, and empowerment. Together, attendees will have the opportunity to set  a unifying community development agenda for the next twelve months.See flyer and register today!

Boston School Finder and partners invite you to a special screening of America to Me followed by a panel discussion with the documentary producer, a student from America to Me, and Boston-area leaders in education, community, and politics. Attendees are welcomed to share personal experiences and collaborate on local solutions for education in the Boston Community. RSVP by September 10!

Girls ages 6 and up are invited to gather, read, and share their favorite books. The mission behind this program is to encourage young girls to read and invite their friends to join - because reading is cool!
